About Us
Since 1999, Women Against Violence has provided education, prevention and recovery services to women and their families in New York City. All WAV programs are administered through Brooklyn Women's Services, a multi-specialty healthcare center affiliated with Maimonides Medical Center. Being located in a medical office gives WAV immediate access to physicians and counselors. Click here, for more information on Brooklyn Women's Services.
Below is an outline of Women Against Violence services and programs.
Creative Arts Therapy
Our art therapists work with children and adults utilizing the creative arts to help encourage the expression of emotions that may be difficult to say verbally. Creative outlets include: writing & journaling, drawing, painting and music. Therapy is offered at Brooklyn Women’s Services, as well as in the community at churches, after-school programs and schools.
Counseling Servies
Individual Crisis Counseling: We can provide crisis counseling for women and young girls with a qualified therapist trained in crisis management and domestic violence, sexual abuse, and rape.
Support Groups: WAV offers support groups on topics such as parenting, self-esteem, domestic violence and anger management. See our current programs and events page for current groups being offered.
